I’m a multi-genre author, but mostly write young adult fantasy. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, I now live in the southern US with my husband John Michael.
I’ve been interested in Wales since my teenage years. I’ve always wanted to read a time travel fantasy novel set in the BC era of Celtic Britain, rather than early AD or the medieval period, so I decided I’d write my own.
It wasn’t until 2010 that I began to envision my first ideas for a Welsh-themed trilogy. I discovered Llyn (Lake) Caerwych, and because of its location a whole new world opened up for me – Snowdonia, a beautiful national park in North Wales. Bryn Cader Faner, a 4,000-year-old ring cairn, was within walking distance from the lake and I knew this was the perfect place. I had found the portal to send Bridget and Celena back in time to 500 BC, in Bronze Age Britain.
The characters themselves were inspired by the two most influential women in my life: Cynthia Bowler, my best friend from high school and my daughter, Bridget.
Marion Zimmer Bradley, Tolkien, and Meredith Ann Pierce are a few of my favorite authors, and they’ve inspired and influenced my writing a great deal.
